Tournament Updates: In 2025, we will have two tournaments, the Mack Champ Invitational and the Mack Champ Invitational Showcase:
- The top-ranked players based on Junior Golf Scoreboard will compete in The Mack Champ Invitational.
- A select group of up-and-coming players will be invited to participate in The Mack Invitational Showcase.
- Everyone will play from the same tee box.
- The tournament will feature 36 holes of stroke play, with the first round on Friday and the final round on Saturday.
Age Divisions:
- Invitational: 12-14 and 15-18 (some 12-14 players will be able to play up in the older division)
- Invitational Showcase: One age division
Practice Round: A practice round will be available on Thursday, April 17. A scheduling link is coming soon.
Entry Fee: Thanks to the generosity of our sponsor, Chevron, there is no entry fee for the tournament. Hotel information is coming soon.
Liberty National ACE Grants: Families in need of financial assistance can apply for a Liberty National ACE Grant. Recipients are eligible for up to $1,500 in reimbursement. Go to the AJGA’s website to learn more and register.

Spectator Golf Carts: Spectator carts are not allowed during practice or tournament rounds without a blue government-issued permanent handicap placard. Please contact Abby Grzetic (agrzetic@ajga.org) if you are in need of a handicap cart.
Unreasonable Delay Policy: At all MCI events, players will be warned after a first recorded bad time, defined as more than 40 seconds to hit a shot. Players will receive a one-stroke penalty after a second recorded bad time. Please direct any pace of play questions to the starter.

Greens Reading Materials: Any yardage book or Greens Reading Material that a player uses for a stroke from the putting green or a stroke from anywhere with a putter must conform with the limitations in Clarification 4.3a/1. Handwritten notes about a putting green must be written by the player and must meet the size limit. The book cannot be larger than 4 1/4 inches by 7 inches. Notes written by anyone else, including a parent or coach, cannot be used during competition to help read the line of play when playing from the putting green or using a putter from anywhere else on the course. Please refer to the two links below for additional information.
Scorecards: Players will be required to bring a smartphone or device with internet capabilities that supports the Golf Genius app (available on iOS or Android) to use for official scorecards and live scoring. Please make sure you have the most updated version of the app. Instructions for using the app can be found here and here. Each player will be provided with a Golf Genius ID at the starting tee and will be assigned to mark for another player in the group. Players are responsible for providing their own device and ensuring it is fully charged for the round.
Rangefinders: The Mack Champ Invitational allows the use of distance-measuring devices in all competitions. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or MEASURE OTHER CONDITIONS that might affect his/her play (e.g., gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 4.3(1).
Push Carts: Push carts (non-motorized) are approved for use by all players as permitted by the host facility. Players are responsible for providing their own push carts.
Yardage Books will be available to all competitors. If you plan to play next year, please keep your book!

AJGA: The 12-18 winner of the Mack Champ Invitational will become a fully exempt AJGA member, and players who finish near the top will earn Performance Stars as part of the AJGA’s Performance Based Entry program. Learn more here.

NOTICE TO PLAYERS
Play is governed by the Rules of Golf Effective January 2023 and the AJGA Tournament Hard Card.
Disregard any local rules on the Memorial Park Golf Course scorecard or any other posted local
rules. In addition, the following specific rules apply:
- FORMAT: 54 holes of stroke play. The competition will not extend beyond Sunday, May 11 th , 2025.
i. 11-Under division will not extend beyond Saturday, May 10 th , 2025.
- TOURNAMENT TEES: Boys 11 Under will be playing from the BLACK MCI tees.
Boys 12 – 14 will be playing from the BLUE MCI tees.
Boys 15 – 18 will be playing from the RED MCI tees. - AJGA DROPPING ZONE (PENALTY AREA): If a ball is in the penalty area in front of No. 2
green, including when it is known or virtually certain that a ball that has not been found came to rest
in the penalty area, the player may:
Take stroke-and-distance relief under Rule 17.1d(1), adding one penalty stroke, or
Drop the original ball or another ball in the dropping zone that is located directly in front
of the farthest most front of tee box, adding one penalty stroke. The dropping zone is a
relief area under Rule 14.3 and may be closer to the hole than where the ball last crossed
into the penalty area. - CADDIES – AGES 11 & UNDER: Except when permitted for players ages 11 and under, players
must not have a caddie during the round. Model Local Rule H-1.1.
Penalty for breach of this rule is the general penalty for each hole which he or she is helped by
caddie. If the breach happens or continues between two holes, the player gets the general
penalty for the next hole. - ADVICE: (Rule 10.2a) is any verbal comment or action that is intended to influence a player in
choosing a club, making a stroke or deciding how to play during a hole or round. In addition, any
conversation between player/spectator may be construed as advice. This includes any conversation
between player/spectator in their native language. In either instance penalty for breach of this rule is
two strokes. Players are responsible for the actions of their relatives and spectators in regards to this
rule. This excludes caddies for players under the age of 12. - CODE OF CONDUCT: The MCI’s Code of Conduct policy is always in effect when a player is at
the host facility. Please reference the MCI Code of Conduct policy. - COMMITTEE: The Committee, as defined in the Rules of Golf, consists of the senior rules official,
all AJGA staff members present during competition, and any guest rules officials appointed by the
tournament director. The Tournament Rules Committee composed of Kyree Conaway, Jeff Champ
and Faith Scott, will have final decision-making authority over all rules-related matters.

Age Divisions:
- Invitational: 11 under, 12-14 and 15-18 (some 12-14 players will be able to play up in the older division

Spectator Golf Carts: Spectator carts are not allowed during practice or tournament rounds without a government-issued Blue Permanent Handicap placard. Please contact mci@cameronchampfoundation.org if you need a cart. For Thursday’s practice round, spectator carts can be rented for $20.
Caddies: Caddies are allowed for players in the 11-and-under division.
Hotels: The Mack Champ Invitational has partnered with the Galleria Westin Houston and the Hampton Inn & Suites I-10 Central to provide special rates to our participants.
Liberty National ACE Grants: Families in need of financial assistance can also apply for a Liberty National ACE Grant. Recipients are eligible for up to $1,500.00 in reimbursement. Go to the AJGA’s website to learn more and register.
Parking: Parking at Memorial Park Golf Course is $1 for every 3 hours. Download the ParkMobile App or pay at the kiosk.

Entry Fee: The 2025 tournament entry fee is $325, covering 54 holes of competition for the Mack Champ Invitational and Showcase in the 12-14 and 15-18 age divisions, while the 11 & under division will compete over 36 holes. The fee also includes dinner for the player, lunch after each tournament round, a Junior-Am round or a free practice round, and a welcome gift package.
Practice Rounds: The following rules apply:
- Players must always carry or push their own bags.
- Parents, spectators and coaches MUST always remain on the cart path. No exceptions.
- Players must play ready golf.
- Players must not hit two shots at any time during the round. After normal completion of the hole, players may choose to play an additional 2-3 putts OR chips per hole, but NOT BOTH.

Cancellations: Cancellations must be submitted in writing to mci@cameronchampfoundation.org. Cancellations received on or before April 8th will receive a full refund. Cancellations received after February 15th will forfeit their entry fee.
